hi Bruce,
Yes I am using ASP.NET (System.Data.Odbc). If I use Mysql Control Center to view the tables, I can see the chinese characters with no problem. And static text on the aspx pages are displayed perfectly. So I suspect there must be some problem with the database queries. I am using Windows with Chinese locale locally to test the application and it works perfectly. So I wonder if the problem has anything to do with the windows system on DASP.
Thanks a lot.
Edmund

I am not really sure about how to get chinese characters into mySQL db. I know for sure that it is not related to the web server because we know MS SQL can handle international chars once you change the collation sequence.
Are you using asp.net?

Hi, I am using DASP to host a non-English website (Chinese to be specific). Right now I am using mysql as a backend database. It seems that without a Chinese windows server (or at least a windows server with the chinese language pack installed), all the text returned from database queries become gibberish characters. Is there any way I can overcome this problem on DASP? If not, I might have to go for another webhosting. However, I really like DASP's service..
Thanks a lot! Greatly appreciate your help!!
