It would be great if someone could explain if my thinking is right here:

I'm looking for a host for three small websites I have written:

www.myFirstWebsite.com
www.myFirstWebsite.co.uk

www.mySecondWebsite.com

www.myThirdWebsite.com

From previous threads I get the impression they could all be run from one account, if they are sufficiently small and use the same database.

I would be charged the basic rate of $10 per month, plus $10 per month for the database, and a one-off of $15 each for each of the others.

Is that right, or are we only talking about sharing for the first website with two domains?

If they can share, what are the disadvantages? Is it bad for SEO?

Thanks,
Greg.

Hello Greg,

Yes, this is possible, but probably not preferable. You will need to use domain pointers, and it will cost $15 for each extra domain, so it will be a total of $45 for 3 extra domains. One of the disadvantages of hosting multiple websites under a single account is that if one site goes down, it may affect the availability of the other sites. It's better to host them on separate accounts because each account receives its own isolated application pool.

Thanks for the reply.

I think you're saying for each website I want to run seriously, I need a separate account; but I can have one test account, say for advertising a portfolio of work as a web developer, or for vanity projects to show off to my friends, where I can put lots of sites, pooling resources and saving me money, with each additional test site costing $15 once, rather than $120 a year.

Hello Greg,

For what you described, that would work.
