Where do I pay for renewal of my domain-name?

I registered an account here at discount asp. At the same time I also choosed a domain-name (asdhjdsf.com for example). Soon it is time to renew this domain-name and pay for another year..at least.

I'm a bit confused because I thought I was going to pay this to discount.asp but last week I recieved a letter from some "Domain Regestry Of America" and they want me to pay to them. I find it hard to understand if it is really an invoice they have sent or if it is just a "invitation" to move my domain to them.

Personally I want everything (account and domain) to be handeled by discount.asp but perhaps this is not the case.

The bottom line is that I dont know if I should pay the bill or not. Hard for you to say perhaps [:I], but if you have any idea about this please let me know.

What you received is a scam (they say marketing appeal, I say scam) to get you to change your domain name registrar.

I received the same appeal and was going to post a warning here but didn't get it done.

I'm sure you will get a definitive answer from DASP, but if I remember correctly they took care of renewing the domain automatically and put it on my quarterly statement.

In general, DO NOT respond to any domain renewal notices, invoices, or correspondence sent to you via postal mail.

If you registered a new domain name with us, we do not send any postal mail directly to our customer for domain renewal. To avoid service disruption we will automatically renew the domain name at its anniversary date as long as the account is active.

Thanks for your answers, Scott and dasp.

I suspected that this was a "scam" [;)] but I wasn't sure. They had written the letter in a way that made me unsure, playing with words...like spammers, "scammers" usually do and since my language is Swedish, not English, a letter like that is a bit hard for me to understand properly.

Why not hide account registration info from outsiders? A whois lookup does not have to show my personal registration info..it could just as well show contact info to discount.asp. Registration-info hiding would be a great feature, at least for me. I don't want strangers to be able to send me real letters. This way they can reach my private mailbox outside my house. Maybe that sounds strange [;)] but in my opinion the Internet does contain more than a few nutcases.
