  1. hi. i am in the process of leaving DASP and have migrated my domain name to point at my new web/email host. i had forgotten about backing up my emails from DASP before i did this and found that although i can still access my webmail on DASP there is no way to backup my emails through smartermail. i had a look through the forums here and the only solution i can see is to download them via pop3 in outlook and archive them that way - problem is that all of the knowledgebase articles appear to need my name servers to still be pointing at DASP so i can create an account in outlook using e.g. pop3.MyDomainHostedAtDASP.com.

my question is, is there any way i can connect an outlook account to my DASP email now that my name servers are pointing to another provider? e.g. pop3.<my DASP account name>.com instead of pop3.<my domain name>.com? a bit like how (when i first joined DASP) i could access my website using a "temporary" url while the name servers, DNS etc were moved over to DASP?

    thanks

  2. Thanks for asking about this issue. You can configure your mail client to use the mail server you had mail hosted on to retrieve your mail. For example, "sm10.internetmailserver.net" is the mail server that one of my domains points to. You can use this interchangeably with:
    pop3.YourHostedDomainName.com
    smtp.YourHostedDomainName.com
    imap.YourHostedDomainName.com
In this example "sm10.internetmailserver.net" is the equivalent of the above 3 given mail server names. To get the mail server name you are using, you can use the discountasp.net control panel. Simply click on the email management link and look for "Secure Web Interface". Your mail server will be listed, you do not need to include "https://", you should remove this when inputting this information into your email client.

You may also use the following link in your browser "https://my.discountasp.net/email-manager/default-sm.aspx" to get to the email management control screen. Also, you should setup your connection type as pop3 in your mail client if your wish is to download the mail messages to your local machine. Once the email is off of the server, it is only accessible on the computer you downloaded the messages to. Setting up your connection type as an IMAP configuration will only allow you to see the messages on the server and they will not be downloaded. I hope this information is useful in resolving your issue.
