Outgoing ports

I have had to cancel my account at another shared hosting provider because my application opens a socket to google imap servers (imap.google.com:993) and their firewall blocked outgoing ports.

Is discountasp.net the same or is an outgoing connection like that allowed?

You should be able to make outbound call from your web application.
