   Provide basic email functions like contact and calendar sync. Unbelievable, I can't sync my Iphone calendar because discountasp.net didn't install the CardDav function available for free with the current SmarterMail package.

   You've lost me a little bit here. I did some research, SmarterMail does support CardDav out of the box and there's nothing needed to be installed on the server side.
