Have you created a support ticket? Include which FTP client you are using and what error messages you are encountering. And your account domain name.

I am not awared of any issues with out FTP server. FTP problem is usually related to firewall / antivirus software.

I contacted MS Support a number of times in recent years regarding FTP and other upload problem. The first thing they ask you to do is to disable all Antivirus and bypass your firewall or DSL/Cable router.

    Give this a shot.

  3. I suspected that at first but the fact that I can log in perfectly fine sometimes and not at all other times discredits that possibility.

/emoticons/cry.gif can't really help troubleshoot this problem in the forum as much more detail is needed.

  5. I've been having problems FTPing into my account for months now. This is an ongoing problem that happens very very often. Not being able to FTP into a hosting package is like a computer keyboard without an ENTER key. It's just impossible to get anything done.

Am I alone in this? I just opened up a second account but I am going to request a refund if this isn't resolved. (I still have 30 days.) Everything else about DiscountASP is awesome but this FTP problem is just unacceptable.

  6. as expected, FTP has failed again.

  7. sorry all. the problem is with the new firewall feature in windows xp sp2. if i disable this new firewall feature, i can easily access my site via ftp. if anyone has any solution as to what ports i need to allow access to, please share. i have tried allowing port 21 but that does not work. i've tried adding my ftp program to the exception list but that does not work either.

    thanks.

FTP uses port 21, it also uses some random high number port.

I do not think you need to add port specifically w/ windows firewall.

I have windows firewall enabled and have no problem FTPing, I didn't specifically add any port.

Just make sure you check the program and service in the exceptions Tab. Make sure you also check 'Display a notification when Windows Firewall blocks a program'. This will allow you to add the program to the list of exceptions.
