Setting up my vBulletin forum

Hello,

Just wanted to say hi, I just signed up for hosting and will be moving my gaming community website over to discountasp.net.

I have a community member who bought us a vBulletin license for forums and I need to get it up asap. I have the basic hosting plan, and just got the minimum MySQL database of 2000mb.

I just want to make sure that I'm on the right track. Will the settings for the base hosting plan be sufficient for the forums? Or do I need to have anything changed. A bit confused after doing some searches on here.

Also any links to help me get it set up would be appreciated!

It's a pretty straight forward install, and you shouldn't have any problems to be honest. I haven't set up vBulletin in a long long time, but I believe you shouldn't have any issues installing it.

Unless it's a very large forum you should be fine with the default disk space and database quotas.

Our previous forum was maybe 1000 users, max of like 25 active at any time, but one of the reasons we are moving to a new host and new forums is we want it to grow. I'm sure the defaults will be fine, we can always make it bigger right?

One of the statements under DB type: If you are using PHP5 in combination with MySQL 4.1.x you may want to change this variable to 'mysqli' to take advantage of the MySQL Improved engine...

I can use this right?

we can always make it bigger right?Sure, you can increase the database and disk storage quotas at any time. You should not have any quota problems for some time though.
