How does one add their site to a search engine? does it cost bucks?

Submission to search engines is almost an art, and there is a lot to consider before you do so. You need to tweak your meta-tags on your web page so they are search engine friendly. There are a lot of engines and indexes that you can submit to. Many will accept an auto-submitter, but some like yahoo you need to do manually. Yahoo is probably the most important.

There are great tips for submitting to yahoo and other major sites that won't allow auto-submissions, as well as what meta-tags are all about and how to optimize them.
