Why is directory browsing allowed? It seems a bit invasive/non-secure. I know you can upload a default page to hide your directory list, but shouldn't there be something in the FAQ or help files that explains this? I didn't even realize directory browsing was allowed until I hit one of my directories by mistake. I'm hoping nobody thought to download my database before I put up the default page [:0]
Yes, directory browsing is turned on for our hosting platform.
We have found that the directory browsing feature was preferred and often requested by developers, because it facilitates testing and debugging of their applications.
Since customers can upload a default page to a subdirectory to disallow viewing of their files, directory browsing is turned on.

Hi,
We will allow this behavior to be controlled by the user in the new release of the control panel (May 2003)

As only a new user of the hosting service I was wondering if the version of the control panel I see now is the "new" version and I just can't find the feature set bruce refered to, or are we still waiting.[;)]
We are still working on the feature. It has not been released yet.

We launched an IIS Manager tool in the control panel where you can control Directory Browsing for your account.
