Without the ability to use host headers you are going to have to either script the redirect or get a secondaccount to host your second site... I have not found that sharing an account with two sites to ever be a good idea especially if you hope for these sites to be indexed by google, yahoo etc..

Is the only reason for doing this to save costs or are they just small not real big deal sites?

  2. Snip...You don't have to break the incoming reference.
I see the site in your signature is using PHP but even with that you can capture the incoming request, as you can with ASP and ASP.NET, not difficult to do at all and you can even rewrite the URL.

  3. Mostly to save cost.
