Open up a support ticket and the support staff can assist. The best way is to log into your control panel and use the Helpdesk Ticket Manager to send in a ticket.

  2. Hey guys... wondering if there is something I am missing. Got my discountasp.net account setup some time ago, just finished and uploaded my new site to the discountasp.net servers and have transfered the domain over successfully. However, when I visit the main URL (www.mysite.com) or the alternative web URL provided by discountasp.net I get this page could not be found with a URL pointing to default.aspx. I in fact do have a default.aspx page there.

Did I miss a crucial setup step? Do I have to activate something. I've already specified default.aspx to be the top default page in the default page list... any help would be appreciated, my site is currently down!!! eeek!!! Thanks!!

    Regards,

    Troy

Did you check your alternative URL (listed in the Account Information section of your control panel). If your site is coming up, everything is working on our end. In this case, you are waiting on the new DNS information to propogate through the Internet - which can take 2-3 days. Please review this article in our knowledge base: http://kb.discountasp.net/article.aspx?id=10155

  4. Yes, I checked th alternative URL in the account info section. It doesn't come up with anything either. They are both broken. The alternative url and the mysite.com url both point to the same page (deafult.aspx) and throw th same error.... which is that default.aspx cannot be found.

The DNS information has already propagated. But at this point, i'm willing just to get the alternative URL working. It's actually been an issue since I first got the account.

I think his site is coming up now. The site related to his forum email address is anyway, not sure if that's the one he's posting about.

  7. Sorry guys... yes this is up and running now thanks!!!

Problem was a custom error handler accidentally set in the web.config..... always the simple things that catch ya ;)

  8. Glad to see this helped someone else ;) maybe there should be a KB article mentioning this!!

  9. Unfortunately creating a kb article for issues like this is very difficult as programming related issues is more complex and vary. You can't make one kb article that encompass the entire scope of the possible issues one programming error can bring up. It is good that you where able to pin point the problem, however this can also be caused by a redirect script inputted some where in your code, or a miss configured default document that is inputted inside your control panel.
The best source of support is still within our community forum where you can obtain a variety of recommendations and alternatives to this. Our community forum still is the best source of support for issues like this and I hope you continue to bring forth more programming related issues and suggestions. Who knows, there could have been 4 other websites you might have helped out by just posting it on this forum.
