Transfered a domain yesterday - does email take longer to propagate than the website?

I transfered my domain with my registrar - the website switched in under an hour. When I sent mail from the DiscountASP site to an account in the domain, there were no errors sending the mail but the mail never arrived.

Domain is caracolche.com
email account is [email protected]

I have switched back to my old host and emails are coming through again. I'll switch to DiscountASP as soon as I can figure out if I should expect a delay and for how long. Maybe there's another step I missed when transferring the domain? All I did was update the A name records at my registrar.

 

Thanks. It makes sense, I just thought that once the web was working my email would be working also.
