I'm able to pull up a website with that domain.

  2. Yes - I see that now - It definitely did not come up over the previous 12 hours. Is there a reason why there would be such a long delay?

Anyway, consider this issue closed and thank you for your reply. - Jim Gallagher

  3. Hi - I just registered a domain at discountasp.net (dermdudes.com). i have designed a website for it - it is sitting on my local computer. I want to upload it to the remote but i don't know where to begin. Is there a default top level remote folder like pubic_html or pub_html or something? How do I find it or create it?

Any help to get me started would be appreciated. thanks, Jim Gallagher

I take it that you just registered the domain. It takes about 24 hours or so for the Internet to recognize the domain. That is why we provide an alternative ftp address and alternative url so customers can get started uploading files and testing their site functionality, before the domain fully resolves to our location.

  5. OK thanks.

The response from the forum and support has been very quick - I am very impressed by that.

This is a bit different from some other website hosts I have used (geocities, etc). Is there some tool to navigate and alter the html on the server or is the procedure to make changes on the local computer and upload the changes via ftp?

  6. You should be able to go to Microsoft.com and download Microsoft Visual Web Developer 2005 Express. This is a free tool from Microsoft to help you manage and update your website directly on our server without downloading it to your local machine and reuploading it.

  7. Update - it turns out that my collegue has uploaded the site html and got a message to delete index.aspx whichhe did, but that did not make the website popup when dermdudes.comis typed in. This is the real issue - how do we bring up the uploaded html - how do we navigate the folder structure to verify that it is correct?

    - Thanks, Jim Gallagher
