Get a crappy mac from here (http://www.apple.com/).
Get a genuine secure vista from here (http://www.apple.com/).
Ah, you had me right up until you used the "V" word. ;) But that is funny and revealing. It's unfortunate that facts will rarely trump advertising these days.
It'salso funny thatApple alwaystouted the Mac operating system as such a thing of inspired beauty and stability, then threw it all away andreplaced it with an O/S based on UNIX. Not that an O/S based on UNIX isnecessarily abad thing, but take away the O/S and what is a Mac? A bunch of slippery transparent icons? Now that you can get an approximation of that with Vista, what are the opposing computer camps going to argue about? It may be the end of an era. What a shame. Ha.
(DISCLAIMER: I've never owned a Mac. Mainly due to software incompatibility, but also because the price premium has always been - and will always be - unwarranted. Designer computers are for suckers. Or people with more disposable income than me...maybe I am just jealous...)

This one sums it up:

The Vista numbers could be even higher if Apple were to sell the software in its stores... said...

I haven't owned one either but they almost had me back in the early 90's.
I was at a trade show and saw a demo for Local News crews using the Video Toasters.
Man those were sweet.
Yes, the "V" word is a good point, I'm still using XP Pro on all the systems here.
(Media "Touch"edition on my Wife's notebook.)
btw, did you see Msft's news about how many Vista installations are on new Macs?

"Today, the company is approaching 200 [Apple] stores worldwide. They provide a Mac shopping experience, exposure to the Apple brand..."
A "Mac shopping experience"? Ha. Oooookay.
That's all very interesting, but I don't think anyone has to worry about Mac cutting too deeply into PC sales. The only way that will happen is if Apple cuts their prices by, oh, say, 50%. ;) I don't see that happening any time soon.
And if you use specialized software that is not cross-platform (Photoshop, to cite onlyone expensive example), you have to add the cost of that software to the price of the Mac. That's what has always kept me from buying even one of those cheap $500 Macs to play with. Too much of my software would have to be scrapped or replaced.
As a home machine, just for web and email, I think Mac couldcorner the market if they lowered prices and managed to retain quality. Because, as bruce says, they're so good looking. ;)

Take a look at some of those beauties. http://community.discountasp.net/emoticons/wink.gif
They're running Holiday specials right now on IntelCore 2 Duo systems for under $700. http://community.discountasp.net/emoticons/yeah.gif
Personally those Spacey looking desktops look way cooler than the Macs...To me anyway. http://community.discountasp.net/emoticons/tongue.gif

They look like the anti-Mac. I wonder if they can make me one that has steam coming out of the top, to complete the whole Blade Runner effect they seem to be going for... ;)
