We do not have CR here. Reason being, the licensing is so incredibly expensive. I used to use it a lot and known the pain all too well. Salute, Mark
We have legacy customers that require us to support CR for some time and moving over to SQL Reporting Services is not yet an ideal option for us. The way we deploy our asp.net 2.0 application at a customer site seems to be in compliance with the license for the royalty free runtime. license: http://www.businessobjects.com/pdf/products/reporting/crystalreports/crystal_reports_for_vs_net.pdf But then again, we're installing our app on their own servers. We like to start hosting them here. Is point 3.1.6 (pasted below from the link above) the reason why you cannot allow us to deploy the royalty free CR run time? 3.1.6 You do not use the Server/Web Application on a rental or timesharing basis or to operate a service bureau facility for the benefit of third-parties unless you first acquire an Application Service Provider License from Crystal Decisions;
If we purchase a copy of CR Developer license for a named user, can we install it in discountASP.NET.
Unfortunately, we cannot install CR on our DiscountASP.NET servers. We have spoken to Vice Presidents at BusinessObjects several times through the years and, as a host, we cannot offer CR without complying with VERY expensive licensing. SAP did acquire BusinessObjects so we don't know if the licensing for hosters has changed or not. We'll be looking into this in the future.
