I can log into the control panel, but I can't log into my site via FTP or Visual Studio 2005. Any ideas as to what's wrong>

Log into your CP and check, the login info probably changed for the new server account.
Mine for example included a new pipe character.

On the Account Information page, under FTP Information, beside FTP Password, it says Same as Control Panel Password above. The password that allows me into the control panel definitely does not work under ftp.

When attempting to openmy site with Visual Studio 2005, the pop-up says "Unable to open the web 'http://MYSITENAME.com'. An error occurred accessing your Windows SharePoint Services site files.Authors - if authoring against a Web server, please contact the Webmaster for this server's Web site. WebMasters - please see the server's application event log for more details."

At first I assumed this was related to my problem accessing via FTP, but now I'm not sure whether this is a separate issue.

Tech support helped me figure it out. You have a new username that, in my case, was my account number plus a | plus my control panel username. I saw that, but figured that meant I could use EITHER my account number or my control panel username. I guess they told me about that at some point, but I missed it.

On Windows 2008 we use the new FTP7. With FTP7, the Control Panel Username is different from the FTP Username. Check the Account Information section of your Control Panel.

Yeah.. The "|" is a mess. Most people have no idea what this character is.

We've been working w/ MSFT's IIS team to see if they can allow us to change this char but unfortunately this is hardcoded.
