We have taken advantage of the extensibility of IIS Manager, and developed and beta launched our third IIS Manager module for our Windows 2008 hosting platform:
Global Assembly Cache (GAC) Viewer module: This tool allows customers to view and obtain details of the server-side global assembly cache assemblies.
Here?s how to get this to work:
- Log into your control panel (http://my.discountasp.net) and navigate to IIS Tools | IIS Manager tab. Allow the primary user (same as your control panel login user) to connect using IIS Manager.
- On the same tab (bottom), enable the GAC Viewer module.
- Now, close out the control panel and connect using IIS7 Manager. Please see this KB article (http://support.discountasp.net/KB/a400/how-to-connect-to-windows-2008iis-7-using-microsoft.aspx) for the instructions.
- Once you click connect, you will be prompted with a dialogue box asking if you wish to install the modules.
- Check the Assembly and click OK.
- Click Run
-Once the assembly is installed, you should see the new DiscountASP.NET Tools section in the IIS Manager with the new module.
We are releasing these new IIS Manager extensions in beta right now so we can get your feedback on how to improve the tools. Please use our Feedback Module to provide us with feedback.
