I need to know how to publish my site using FTP. DiscountASP said I published my site to a subfolder, and that I need to eliminate that and republish it. I need to know exactly how to input a folder to publish the site into it so that it reads from www.liveforeverimmortality.com . Please someone give me a step by step through this, as DiscountASP refuses to do this for me and told me to come here. I use MS Expression Web and can publish using FTP through them. My email is remerioperalta@hotmail.com also.

Hi,
Tell us in detail what you would like to do and I'll create a Video for Expression Web.
Note that this will only work on IIS6 servers, not IIS7 until version 3 of Ex. Web.
(Microsoft contacted me last week that they will not be updating v2.)
Salute,
Mark

The account is on IIS 6. She needs very basic site uploading instructions. She uploads to subdirectories, is the main issue.

Can wisemx contact me at karenperalta41@msn.com about my need to publish using FTP through MS Expresssion Web? Supposedly I have already published to a subfolder, and I don't know what's going on with my site. I can give wisemx my username and password, and he or she can help me get rid of the subfolder and publish my site to the correct folder, which I think I'll need to create or perhaps wisemx could help me create it. Please respond to my email, as I don't know how to check responses on this forum yet. Thank you.

Hi,
Emailed this same text to you...

Hi ,
These are the steps to publish your files and folders to DiscountASP.NET IIS6 servers with Expression Web.
1) Make sure you have the FTP info for your account, which is available from your account’s Control Panel.
2) Open your local site in Expression Web.
3) Click on “File” then “Publish Site”.
4) On the “Remote Web site” tab select “FTP”.
5) In the “Remote Web site location” enter the FTP address for your account.
6) Leave the “FTP directory” box empty.
7) Uncheck the “Use Passive FTP” option. You can try to enable this later but for now try with it un-checked
8) On the “Publishing” tab you can change those options but for now leave “Changed pages only” checked.
9) Click “OK”
10) When the next “Connect” dialog opens enter your account’s “User name” and “Password”. Place a check in “Remember my password” if you want.
11) Click “OK” to connect and show your local and remote files side-by-side.
12) You can now select any folder and/or files on the left side and then use the arrows in the center to transfer those files to your remote site.
13) You can also delete files or folders on either local or remote from here and you can pull files in from your remote site by selecting files on the Right side.
14) On the bottom you have options to “Publish all changed pages”, you can always use those options or the method described above instead.
15) If you wanted to publish two files in the root of your local folder to the root of your remote site hold Ctrl as you click on them to select them, then click the proper directional arrow in the center.
16) New files, as noticed by Expression Web, will have a directional arrow next to them, indicating that it noticed you have new content to publish.
17) Notice you also have an option to “Open your Remote site in Expression Web”, but this option should be used with caution, with a lot of files it will take a very long time to sync.
18) Once you click the directional arrows with files and/or folders selected you will see a transfer indicator, once complete your transferred files will no longer indicate they need to be transferred.
19) You should now see your published content on the Right side and you should be able to access that content from a browser.
20) There are also additional options to Optimize your page code but for now don’t be concerned about that until you are more comfortable with publishing.
All the best,
Mark

The list Bruce created didn't work for me, as I followed it but the site didn't publish. I don't really want a video. What I pretty much need is for someone to take the files I've already published, which apparently have accidentally been published to a subdirectory or subfolder, and publish the files so that they appear at www.liveforeverimmortality.com (http://www.liveforeverimmortality.com/) . My username is edited for security and my password is edited for security, and you can use DreamWeaver or MS Expression Web to log in. It shouldn't take more than one minute to do this, if you know exactly what you're doing. Finally, I want to be able to edit my site in real time using MS Expression Web, using the 'File' and 'Edit using MS Expression Web' command in my Internet Explorer browser. My current site at www.rainbowriting.com (http://www.rainbowriting.com/) has this capacity. Anyway, thank you for any help you can give me.

Update: All taken care of.
The folders and content were all on the site, just messed up.
I moved files and folders as needed, the site is running now.
All the best,
Mark
