Hello,

I'm going to subscribe soon the asp.net hosting package + sqlserver and I have a question regarding the SSL price.

The hosting price should be 10$ + 10$ per months.

But I also need to put SSL on the login page of my website.
I don't really know what I need to do and pay for it.

Should I ? :

subscribe to the SSL add-on for 10$ per month
+
buy a certificate for to RapidSSL.com or VeriSign.com or thawte.com

So my website will cost me :
- monthly : 20$ hosting + 10$ SSL : 30$
- once (or per year) : certificate (around 100$ or 200$)

Is that correct ?

Thank you very much

Obviously the guys at DASP can advise on the pricing of their own services but probably not on the cost of an SSL certificate that you will need to purchase via some external certification authority. From my perspective I'd say that your estimate of $100-$200 per year to purchase an SSL cert is high, unless you're going for SSL wildcard.

I purchased a 2 year RapidSSL cert (recommended as fully supported by DASP and boasts 99% Browser Recognition) a couple of months back from Namecheap.com for $27.76..their pricing is still the same now.

You can see mine in action in a web application hosted by my DASP account at : https://www.crystalcms.co.uk/backoffice/secure/login.aspx

Namecheap SSL info is here : http://www.namecheap.com/learn/other-services/ssl-certificates.asp

Oh and no I really do not work for namecheap! I'm just trying to help out ;)

All the best,
Joe

Thanks Joe. RapidSSL is one of the certificate authorities that we recommend in our KB articles about SSL.
