why is my FTP broken?

I just got a discountasp.net site and have been playing around with webservices. I have been uploading and deleting stuff via FTP for two days now with no problem. Well I just signed up for SQL 2008 add on and now my FTP is broken. I have tried everything.

Things I tried:

Mozzilla (it times out before asking me for credentials)
Windows explorer as FTP (it times out before asking me for credentials)
Visual Web Developer FTP (it times out)
Core FTP Light (ftp client)
Domain Name/s (ftp://domain.com, ftp://ftp.domain.com, ftp://ftp.domain.discountasp.net, ftp://domain.discountasp.net)
IP addresses
Ping the site (one "time out" in 10 pings)
Ping the ftp (occasional time out ~ 25% packet loss)

I would attach an image of my problem but my FTP is down so I cant upload one!!!!

oh neat thanks... sorry about that, I am new to this hosting and most hosting providers I use don't have that type of support
