Platform Choice

Discussion in 'Windows / IIS' started by pbattelino, Feb 7, 2014.

  1. Hi,

Upgrading the old FrontPage generated site living on Windows 2003 / IIS 6. I plan to use Microsoft Web Expression 4 to generate the new site. Which platform should I target: W2008/IIS7, or W2012/IIS8?

    Thanks in advance.

Either platform is fine if you're just creating HTML files. You only need to be concerned if you're using ASP.NET technologies as different versions are supported in each platform and may not be available to both.

  3. Ray, thank you for your response. Would you happen to know a link where these differences are highlighted?

    Thanks again in advance.

I always found w3schools.com a good starting place to learn about web technologies.

  5. Will I have to change from FRONT PAGE 2003 when new servers are deployed. I don't do anything fancyu in my Web pages. ... only html...

If you only have html, the site should react the same way.
