  1. Hi team,

Do you have any plans for upgrading to Smarteremail v. 6.x?

    Best regards,
    Arne

I know our team is looking at it. Haven't been told of any dates or timeframe for upgrading. Is there a specific feature that you are interested in?

  3. Hi Eric,

Yes, I was under the impression that the Outlook synchronization had improved. The current 5.x gives me quite a few problems including being very slow and difficult without a lot of erros to maintain between two separate PCs (home and office PC). It really is a hassle when it doesn't work.

Specifically, I expect a lot more with the new two way synchronization of tasks, calendars, and contacts with Outlook via Add to Outlook (2007).

    Best regards,
    Arne

Thanks for the feedback. Will let our product team know.

  5. The Web UI in 5.5 really wastes a TON of screen real estate especially on smaller monitors. From the screen shot I saw, the new UI is MUCH improved.

Pretty please with renewals on top. ;-)

  6. Hi there,

I'm looking forward to finding out when the next version is going tocome available. I'm particularly interested in getting Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync Add-on. Any updates on when this may be available?

  7. Skinning

While not a huge priority, it would be nice to have the custom skinning ability by default as I believe it is currently disabled at a service wide level.

  9. Time to move on lads?

    Hi team,

It has been a really long while. SmarterEmail is now out in version 7.0 and we still only have version 5.5.

With over-the-air sync with iPhone etc available and tons of other cool stuff I would really appreciate if you could give us a solid timeframe for upgrades - or not at all.

You have the best platform out there but I miss a serious solution for the email / calendar / contacts management software.

    Best regards,
    Arne

We do not have any plans to upgrade SmarterMail at the moment, so I'm afraid there is no time frame I can give you.

  11. To bad about not upgrading the email. On a wish list I would put contact sync's before Team Foundation Server TFS.

  12. ...now we are at least 2-3 versions behind the curve...

SmarterMail 8.x beta is now out there.....

When are DASP going to upgrade us? There are so many new cool and improved features that would really up-the-ante.

Please let us know what's on the roadmap so we can start planning. I think we have been patient for a very long time.

    Best regards,
    Arne

There is always going to be a new SmarterMail beta out there. They can't make money selling a product that is perceived as "stale." But this is email we're talking about after all, and the core functionality of email does not change very frequently. In fact it rarely changes. Send message, receive message.

That being said, an upgrade is not out of the question, but we still have no plans to do so. We'll discuss it at our next product meeting, and I'll come back here and tell you what the consensus is. Give me a couple of weeks.

  14. Hello MJP,

Thanks for a quick reply, it is appreciated.

You have a point regarding releases for the sake of releases, but you miss the fact that the DASP 5.5 version of SmarterMail do not have the significant collaborative improvements brought in version 6.0. And obviously these have been improved (some might say, including me, corrected) in the later versions.

I'm not that hot on moving our email and calendars etc to gmail in order to achieve a better and more integrated collaborative environment.

    Best regards,
    Arne

The SmarterMail upgrade is planned for the third quarter of this year, so we're at least four months away.
