Microsoft's adCenter Analytics site says that LiveStats has an EOSL of April 30, 2008. What does that mean for those of us using it here on DASP? Are there plans to replace it with another server-based statistics tool or should we start gearing up for the MS or Google offerings? If looking at another server-based option, could you let us know what are currently in your "top 3" so we can get a head start looking at documentation? Thanks!
I've been testing the Msft Analytics for the past few months here and yesterday upgraded to the new version. DASP has been looking into a lot of new options for us, still in the works at this time. Salute, Mark
I'd kind of like a comment from a DASP employee... I know it may take some time since they're busy with the Win2K8/IIS7 rollout, but I need something a little more than "they're looking into it". I know they're looking into it. If it turns out I need to go with one of the tools that requires adding javascript snippets to all my pages, I'd like to get that tested as soon as possible. On the other hand, if they're planning to roll out another server-based tool that covers the features I used in LiveStats - or if they plan to keep on using LiveStats without official support - then I don't want to waste cycles on something like Google or Microsoft's solutions. And preferably if they already know a short list of products they're looking at, I'd like to know what they are if they don't mind letting out that info so I can start looking at documentation and evaluation whether or not I want to use it. The official EOSL is less than two months away after all.
I do understand. My favorite over the years has been WebTrends but I know it would be rather expensive to implement here. I've been working closely with the Microsoft adCenter Analytics beta team and they can't answer yet about the scripting. One of my suggestions has been a method for ASP.NET controls, rather than javascript in the page headers. Currently IE7 with default phishing turned on will try to block the script, which is indeed a bummer. Salute, Mark
Yes. We are looking for alternative statistic product to replace livestats. Bruce DiscountASP.NET www.DiscountASP.NET
We are actually testing on a couple of servers now to determine what will have the least impact memory-wise. As you may know, processing raw logs (which is all any starts program does) can be very memory intensive. It is something we want to come to a conclusion on soon, because as you may have noticed, we launched Windows 2008/IIS 7 without any stats program (shh, don't tell anyone), just to avoid carrying over the LiveStats problems. But we will have something for you soon. Think weeks rather than months.
Until Bruce chimes back I'll give you a heads-up on something I'm working on... The Video tutorials I'm creating will be on a DASP test server,Windows Server 2008. I've added that server to my Microsoft adCenter Analytics. Once the test site gets live traffic I'll use theAnalytics to provide information here. This way DASP users can see how it works.
