Another reason to back away from MySQL

    I think this is a non-issue. If Sun wants to split "Enterprise" and "Community" development it doesn't mean the Community (free) version is going to suffer, it just means the Enterprise users (who are basically just MySQL users paying for support at this point) will get some features they have been asking for.

    MySQL is so closely linked to so many open source projects that that "community" feels they own it. But it's always been owned by a private company. now it's just owned bya bigger company.

    I doubt sun is going to abandon the millions of free MySQL users out there. It wouldn't make business sense.If they abandon themthey lose them as potential "Enterprise" customers.
