I'm trying to configure IMAP email on my iPad2 (OS 5.0) After entering the appropriate values: Incoming Mail Server Host Name: imap.MyDomainName.com User Name: MyFullEmailAddress Password: MyEmailPassword Outgoing Mail Server Host Name: imap.MyDomainName.com User Name: MyFullEmailAddress Password: MyEmailPassword I get a message saying: Cannot Connect Using SSL Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL When I answer "Yes", I get the following message: The IMPA server "imap.MyDomainName.com" is not responding. Check your network connection and that you entered the correct information in the "Incoming Mail Server" field BTW, I'm able to configure for a POP3 connection by turning SSL off. Unfortunately, I want IMAP. Also, SmartMail is evidently not yet compatible with iPad 2 (or maybe it's the other way around). Anyway, the list of emails in the inbox displays Ok but there's no way to select/display one. Hope someone can help with this. Thanks, JCC
Are you using port 143 for IMAP? If you had a traceroute and/or telnet tool, then you can test your connection/ports.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I was using port 143 (the iPad offers this by default). Interestingly, I just tried to setup IMAP again and it worked without any problem. Thanks again.
Thanks for the response. My Outlook was setup with POP3 access. I didn't try to setup for IMAP (should have though). Anyway, I just tried again and this time it works fine. Thanks again, JCC
