IIS Manager is asking for a port

  1. I am trying to connect remotely to my discountASP IIS using the IIS manager. Per this article...

    https://support.discountasp.net/KB/...e-server-using-the-microsoft-iis-manager.aspx

I get hung up on step one of the Connect to Site wizard as the "Alternative URL" I'm told to use does not have a port specified and I get the following error...

"The server port number must be a positive integer between 1 and 65535."

I took a shot and used a port that is listed in my "publishsettings" document found on the control panel. That gets me past the first step but still errors out on the Finish with this message...

"Could not connect to the specified computer. Details: The remote name could not be resolved: 'http'

  2. My bad... I misread the "exclude 'http://'" as "include". When I removed the http from the url and the port I had added it worked.

Hope this post helps someone else...

    Thanks!!
