Every now and then, I receive an "Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender" when I send messages to AOL users. I need to update a set up parents so I send emails with about 10-15 people in the To: line. It seems like only the AOL email addys get bounced and I receive the following message: This is the mail system at host mc.internetmailserver.net. I'm sorry to have to inform you that your message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. It's attached below. For further assistance, please send mail to postmaster. If you do so, please include this problem report. You can delete your own text from the attached returned message. Any thoughts? cheers, David
Based on the report you received it seems that the IP number received a bad reputation from AOL. They temporarily blocked the IP number on their mail server. At this point all you can do is wait until AOL allows this IP number to send to their email servers again. This can sometimes take 24 - 48 hours.
Thank you for the explanation, but how do I prevent this in the future? Since all my email is sent through DASP, does this mean that at the time my mail was sent out from your mail server, that particular mail server is being blocked by AOL? And times when my mail goes through without any problems, the email is being sent from a mail server that hasn't been blocked? Cheers, David
Unfortunately there isn't anything you can do about it. AOL remains a difficult issue because of the way their users can report "spam" that isn't really spam. We act as quickly as we can, but an occasional AOL block is going to happen. I wish there was some way around it, but there isn't.
