  1. Hello there,

this question has probably been asked many times before but I don't seem to be able to find it in the KB or Forum.

We have a domain registered with UK2.net. The DNS records for the mail are all setup to be using Google Mail. My first question is: "If I change the nameservers will it wipe all the email settings?" If so then this is bad news indeed and will result in me being beheaded by the client!

Which leads to a second question: "Can I just manually alter the DNS settings so that they will point to the DiscountASP.net hosting?" I have tried giving it an IP address but this does not work.

I need a way of changing the DNS so that it directs to the website without altering any other settings.

I tried using web forwarding to

    http://dgodie00000.eweb103.discountasp.net/default.aspx

but this means that the above address is displayed - not good enough.

    Any help is appreciated.

DNS is simply an application that resolve domain name to IP address. As long as the data is the same, it really doesn't matter where the DNS is.

    Your options are

    1) Keep the DNS at UK2.net and update the A record to point to your site's IP (check the control panel DNS manager for the IP address)

    OR

    2) Configure our DNS in the control panel to match what you have w/ your current DNS provider. Update the DNS to point to our server with your registrar.

  3. That's what I thought until mjp clarified this issue earlier today here: http://community.discountasp.net/showpost.php?p=32117&postcount=8

Are you missing the little detail about needing a static IP on a DASP account for this option to work?
