Error 404.4 in TEST Folder

  1. Hi, due to some problems I've been having I recently had to clear everything out of the TEST folder of my site. I've reuploaded the entire site again to test it, but just keep getting the following error:

HTTP Error 404.4 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for does not have a handler associated with it.

    Most likely causes:
The file extension for the requested URL does not have a handler configured to process the request on the Web server.

I've checked that the folder is setup as a web application in the web application tools panel. I'm sure there's something very simple I've done, but can't think what... thanks in advance!

  2. ...The only thing I can think of would be to recycle the site from your Control Panel.

  3. erm... how do I do that... ?

I have the same version of my site working fine in the root folder; is there a file I might have deleted in the TEST folder that could have specified it as a web application?

My site's been published directly from VS 2010 btw.

  4. ...In the image below, the areas highlighted with Yellow, from your Control Panel.
(Not saying it will work but it is worth a shot.)

  5. Cheers, would that recycle everything though? I don't want to rollback the version of the site in my root directory which is working fine. I just want to be able to test the site before publishing it 'properly', again!

  6. What type of application do you have on the root of the account?

Also, have you tried making sure there's a default or index file in this specific folder? This is one of the most common causes for this problem.

All that does is recycle the application pool - releases your application from memory. It doesn't have any effect on the files themselves.
