  1. My company is developing a new website for a client. They currently have a site hosted with MyHost.com and their domain is registered with MyHost.com as well.

The new company web site will be broken into two web sites. The main web site, for example, www.website.com, is going to be built via LightCMS and hosted with them. (this is the store front web site). The second website will be hosted on DASP (this will be the website that has protected account functionality via ASP Membership and should be accessible via account.website.com).

So my question is, are these the proper steps for setting up the subdomain 'account.website.com' (hosted with DASP)?
    1. Add a Root Domain Pointer so we will have our own external IP.
    2. On MyHost (where the domain is registered), add the DASP Names Servers.
    3. Setup a HOST (A) Record called "account" and specify the external IP provided via the Root Domain Pointer we setup.

I assume we will also have to HOST A record and Names Server setup to direct to the site hosted at LightCMS... can you add multiple names servers without conclict? (I am just learning this stuff so this may be a dumb question).

    Thanks for any help.

    1) Set the primary domain for the site you're going to host with us to account.myhost.com (i.e. register your hosting account with this name).

    2) Add an A (Host) record that points to the shared IP address. This needs to be done at myhost.com which is hosting your DNS. You can find the IP address in the DNS Manager section of the DiscountASP.NET Control Panel.

  3. Thanks for your help. How do I go about changing the Domain that we currently have set? Is there a way to do this through the Control Panel (I looked but it didnt jump out at me) ?

There isn't a Control Panel method for changing the domain name on an account. Open a support ticket and they can help you out.

  5. Reviving old thread...

How do I determine the servers shared IP address?

You can perform a ping/trace-route test or look up the information in DNS Manager section of the DiscountASP.NET Control Panel.
