Hosting accounts passwords as stored plain text / clear text / unencrypted

  1. It seems Discountasp.net stores the passwords for hosting accounts in clear text / plain text / unencrypted.

After signing up for a hosting account, I went through the Welcome screens, and on the 'Print Acct Info' screen, there was my account password on screen in plain text.

If Discountasp.net is not storing the hosting account user passwords in clear text, I would like to know how they are able to display my password on screen.

If Discountasp.net is storing the hosting account user passwords in clear text, I would like to know why in this day and age of regular cyber attacks and user credential theft is not being stored encrypted.

During account creation you enter your password so there are all kinds of ways of making it available for display at the end of the process that are unrelated to how it's stored.

You'll notice if you log in to Control Panel your password is not displayed anywhere.
