  1. Hello All!

We are having difficulty with the ABCPDF component. We can't seem to be able to use the AddImageHTML() function, since it wants to write a file to the database. I saw that others had similar problems, but I was wondering if they have been solved.

Also, how do you recommend that we use the components in our development that you host on our site. Do we need to buy developer copies of each one?

  3. Hmmmm...

So what do you recommend we do to create PDFs? We generate them from HTML pages on the site, and this functionality is very important. Is there another PDF generating component that you recommend?

Also, I understand needing a copy if I am going to host against it, but since I just need to test my code, I still need to buy a developers license? It's pretty expensive for a component that isn't even fully supported by the host.

  4. I spent a lot of money on the developer version so I can develop against it for my site (because you advertise it as a component, but now my money was wasted.

You supply a component for which I needed a developers license, and 90% of it's key functionality is disabled. You can't build tables, even using the native PDF library without the AddImage function, you can't build from an HTML stream, basically it's totally neutered. Maybe you can dump some text, but to have any kind of richness to the PDF, it can't work.

Is there a resolve for this?

Will this be fixed anytime soon????

    Matthew,

This is not something we can fix. For this function to work, we have to disable the security policy on the server. i supposed the designer of ABCPDF didn't take security into consideration when they create this component.

  6. I've looked around and seen a few threads on this, but no response as to what we can do to create formatted PDF's on the server. Does DiscountASP have any components that can create PDFs that retain the html formatting? If not, why even advertize abcPDF? I just spent a bunch of time trying to figure it out, only to realize that the sole reason I wanted to use the compnent is unsupported. I can understand your desire to keep the server secure, and would agree with your decision to block the function. But can you guyssee that this is a basic function thata lot of your customers desire? Have you looked into other components that can provide this function?

We totally understand where you are coming from. Right now, the only PDF component we offer is the Websupergoo abcpdf.net.

Our product team has attempted to negotiate with other pdf component vendors but have been unsuccessful at working out any partnerships, thus far. If there are vendors that you or othersfeel that we should be trying to work with, please send us your suggestions.

  8. Thanks Eric. I'm gonna try out a few that offer trials. I'll let you know what I find. I realize, though, that what works for me might not work for others :)
