401 Unauthorized when connecting to the server

Discussion in 'Windows / IIS' started by Ryan2, Jan 10, 2009.

  1. Hi,

I just created my new account a few hours ago and installed the IIS Manager for Remote Admin.
I referred to 'How to connect to Windows 2008/IIS 7 using the Microsoft IIS 7.0 Manager' knowledge base
and still getting this error 'The remote server returned on error: (401) Unauthorized' when I tried to connect.

Referring to 'Account Information' page, I entered the following:

Server name = Alternative URL:* (without http://)
    Site name = xxxx.com
    Username/Password = ControlPanel account

    Any help is much appreicated!

    Thanks,
    ryan2

Just a wild guess, did you add your users to the access list in the control panel?

If you still have trouble, open a support ticket.

  4. Ok, the Support link on top?
I've tried that before and it redirects me to support portal but I'm not sure where to go from here.
Knowledge Base, News, My Settings, Blog, Forum...??

you have to verify the email address before you can submit a ticket. The email account on file should have received an email w/ a link.

  6. Got it. I overlooked my email. thanks!

  7. Access list in the User/Quota Manager page?
Yes, the user account that I'm am trying to authenticate is listed there.
This is the same account that I used for logging-in to control panel.

Where exactly can I open a support ticket?

    thanks!
