a530 User cannot log in, home directory inccessible.

  1. My purpose is to create a folder and enable ftp read access to this folder for a specific user.

I have created a new user in Users/Quota manager.

Then I created a new folder down below /bin directory and gave this user a read permission.

I entered the following address into my web browser:
    ftp://ftp.mydomainblahblah.../discountasp.net/bin/..../mynewfolder

Entered user name and password in the dialog box that appeared and received a message alert: 530 User cannot log in, home directory inaccessible. The same happens with this user if the url points to some different folder (for which the user has no read rights)

    How to deal with it?

  2. You need to preface this new username with the same numbers and pipe symbol "|" you use when FTP'ing with your primary account.

  3. I tried to enter user name similar to this (including | and using my primary account number):
    1234567|myusername
It does not work, still the same error, both in Firefox and Filezilla. The user was created an hour ago, then deleted and re-created.

  4. Create a ticket via the support link at the top of the control panel. Well help you figure it out.
