Access Data Provider not available

Discussion in 'ASP.NET 2.0' started by chriscanali, Jan 16, 2006.

  1. The Access data provider is not in my machine.config file and from everything I have been reading it sounds like it should be in there already. I just want to be able to select Access as my data provider from the Provider tab in the ASP.NET configuration tool. I tried adding the code in to the machine.config but it still won't work. Is this normal? How can I get the Access provider in there correctly? Thanks.

Access data provider was included with early beta for asp.net 2.0. MS yanked this feature in Beta 2.

Access data provider is not part of the released version of framework 2.0.

    i second joel's opinion!!!

Access is just not the right database to drive your website!! It is ok for learning purpose, but i do not recommend this with production site.

  4. Microsoft decided not to include the access data provider because access is the worst possible thing you can add to your website. seriously degrades performance and stabilityof your site as well as other sites on the same machine.
