I'm trying to add an FTP user to my account with no luck. I've looked around the forums, but found the solutions were exclusively for IIS6 w/windows server 2003. Is there any way I can add an FTP user to allow another developer who is helping me to upload to the site? I don't want to give away my main FTP user name and password!
You can add an additional user through your Control Panel: https://my.discountasp.net/user-manager.aspx
I added a user this way, and also granted both read and write permission, but I am still unable to ftp with this username and password. Is there something I'm missing?
I am having the same issue. From what I read, the correct format is: "customer ID|username" But this does not work for me. Why is this so difficult?
I'm with you... The "CusomerID|username" works for me, but I'm adding another user to help me out and grant ftp access, but I don't want to give him my main ftp userid and password that I use in case things don't work out. This shouldn't be so hard! I even updated the permissions to no avail. Maybe I need to check for an open container of glue under my desk...
Hi Dennis, Which FTP client are you using? Most FTP clients (such as FileZilla) will log FTP connection information which will help us determine what is failing. If you are concerned about privacy posting this information on the forums, you can open up a support ticket and provide us the log. So far, it sounds like you're having problems with the username. Any additional FTP users you create must also use the format 'CustomerID|additionalFTPUsername'
Thanks Tasslehoff! I didn't use the "CustomerID|" prior to the user name when logging in. I appreciate your help! Thanks, Dennis
