oh yea, i got some errors alright! It seems that the ajax controls I am using on my iis7 server are version 1. I edited the config file, but now i need to re-setup my environment, which isnt going so well right now. My "ajax extensions" tab has disappeared and i dont know how i managed that. and on top of that, when i try to add the toolkit, nothing shows up. I think the first time i did it a few nights ago i did it like 5 times, deleted this, reinstalled that. this cant bethis difficult to do. If I "show all" i see it, but it's grayed out. is there a way to show certain tabs?
what kind of twilight stuff is going on here? not only did my ajax extensions show up, but now i have asp.net 3.5 extensions? i create the tab for the toolkit. then i goto choose items, nothing populates. I show all, see it grayed out, go back to regular listing, the tab is gone. i dont get this it seems that if i use the 1.0 controls it works but the 3.5 controls wont stick, and for the iis7 server that's required. if i exit and reopen VS08, and go all the way to choose items, i have to browse for them again. well, for some reason, the controls in my environment are of version 1. I dont know why. I've downloaded the toolkit for 3.5. I've installed the 3.5 framework. three times. I have to give up to the fact that for whatever reason I cannot develop ajax projects on my computer. I can deal without the toolbox and just type the code, but it is using version 1. in the register assembly on the top, it defaults to the version 1, and not 3.5.0.0. It seems my system wont install framework 3.5. I've accepted this project for nothing
hey no problem, your health comes first! yes, i'm using VS2008 (team system). The bin folder has AjaxControlToolkit.dll and .pdb file of the same name. i had to handcode references to 3.5.0.0 because it defaulted to the other one. I'll update those files and report back.
Hey there, Updating the bin folder makes my page work, i'm extremely happy. Now I have to work on this toolbox thing.
hello all, I've been working on enabling some pages to work with AJAX. In my test environment it worked perfectly. I uploaded the page, the updated web.config and other files to the server. When I went to test the live page, it died a horrible death with a server error. I followed two tutorials in enabling my current project with AJAX. Am I missing something in my code, or is there something that needs to be enabled on my account? I was sure this was included in my plan. thanx
Hi, I'm getting back to you fast as I could... Have had some sort of "bug" this week and my head has been busting, very hard to focus. Anyway.... Are you using VS2008? One thing I'd check first is what's in your root /bin/ folder and what is referenced in your root web.config Remove any Ajax binaries in your root /bin/ You only need updated/latest AjaxControlToolkit binaries there, the DASP server already has the GAC Ajax tools. Look at your /bin/ folder and your root web.config then re-post, I'll get you through this. Salute, Mark
HI, I'm not having any trouble working with Ajax on the IIS7 servers. My guess is you may have missed something. Did you receive any errors? Salute, Mark
hey wisemx, I hope you are feeling better I finally found a fix for my toolbox problem http://geekswithblogs.net/evjen/archive/2007/11/24/117088.aspx I realized also that I had to change the target to 3.5 in my properties pages as well, and the toolbox came alive. Thank you for your help in the beginning.
Good job...Yup, thanks, today I'm much better. Lovely wife said she got close to hauling me to the Emergency room... But I probably would have fought through that. (She's much nicer, and more sensible, than me.)
