Any recommended applications for handling tasks on discountasp.net

Hi,

I have been using the Sql Admin tool to handle sql tasks, but it is not the best in the world, so am I able to use Sql Management studio directly from my machine to create tables, procedures, etc. Also, is there anything out there that I can directly access my filesystem with besides an ftp client like fileZilla which I am currently using? I was looking for something more powerful, something that would allow me to directly Intall applications instead of going through the site. Is this something I can use the api for? If anyone has any recommended tools for discountasp.net, let me know.
