Authenticated SMTP

  1. Or better yet, just fix the mail server so it doesn't refuse connections. (The mail server is not working as I am writing this. And it wasn't working last night either. This is very annoying, and unacceptable for a paid service.)

Edit: I just read your post in the Accouncements forum, and I'm pleased to see that you are aware of the problem and are doing something about it. Thanks - I partially withdraw my complaint.

  2. Could we please have this for our webmail accounts? The current setup is fine (send within x minutes of POP3 connection), but when the mail server refuses connections (quite a bit at the moment 30/12/2003) then if it manages to send outside of the POP3 connection window we get an error message and the mail disapears. Authenticated SMTP would mean we could send from any connection without the need for the POP3 connection first.
