Hi everyone I'm new at the forum nice to meet all of you.

My programmer said I needed Asp.Net because I have a windows platform desk top software for getting and managing followers .It has a key generator which he said could not be automated when customers purchased. So each time someone purchased I had to generate key and send to them. Now since I work a full time job this was a problem I lost alot of sales because people didn't get there key on download page.I was told he could not automate the key unless I switched to Asp.Net.

Sorry for the long post but this has been over a year and I'm fed up. Now he says I can't hook Aweber or any third party autoresponder up to the software.

I feel like I wasn't told the facts can someone help please?

Sounds like your developer themselves may not know all what is needed to setup your application correctly. DiscountASP is fully comliant with ASP.Net. We also support and offere SQL databases as your primary data source. This maybe required for generating this key you are speaking of and storing it. Lastly, we are a shared hosting environment. What does that mean? In general, we try to offer and provide you the most and largest flexibility (within reason) for the price we offer. But we are a shared hosting environment, and in order to secure and stabalize the other web sites we host, we have a few resstrictions. One of the biggest ones is to not install anything directly on the server. If we allow this than the server itself can start crashing, and affect all of the other customers we serve. It be best to check with your developer just what kind of platform this application needs, and if needs to be installed directly on the server.

 

Thank you for your reply not sure my programmer is aware or not but I will pass this important to him He has set up something but it isn't permission based and this isn't anything like I tried to tell.

I talked with my programmer my software runs on windows .NET Framework 2.5
or higher and it was working ok at the other server. I had all my sales funnel and autoresponder all working. The problem was every time some one would purchase my product they got download page thank you page and yes they could download the product but I had to generate the license key and email them. While still working full time you can see the problem this created .

So I ask him if there was away to automate the process his reply was only if I changed to Asp.Net because he needed a different type of data base.

He did not inform me that none of my pages would not work anymore and He says I can't have autoresponder. I can't even count how much this has cost me and still no solution. Can anyone Please help me .

I'm not trying to discourage you, but this is not something you're ever going to be able to fix by relaying piecemeal information back and forth. Your developer has to fix it directly.

If they can't (or won't), you need to find a new developer.
