I need to add my website in IIS 7 and I can't do so because I have no listing for the network version of my site as it's on the server that is actually showing on my computer. I think the problem is I moved the site from Windows 2003 to Windows 2008 server and then it removed the site from that listing. I need to add in the website on my computer so that it shows the network files on the server on my computer, where I can then add them in where needed in the Add Website feature in IIS 7. Then, I need to create 301 redirects for all the pages in my website to remove redundant listings for www vs. no www, etc. Thanks for any help you can give me.
Are you trying to connect to your site using IIS7 Manager or are you trying to put a copy of your website on your local machine running IIS7 Server?
I want to put a copy on my local machine, which has IIS 7 Manager installed. The website is running on Windows 2008 server. I recall that before, you could access my website on the hard drive through Networks on my machine, which would take you to the online site. But this was when I had it on Windows 2003 server and had the FrontPage server extensions enabled.
Also, I have added the site through Connect to Site but not through Add a Website. It shows in the pane and asks me to log in each time. I can also access the http redirect area, but the site loads at first and then refuses to load, even after I enable all cookies and empty the browser cache, and turn the machine off and on. At first the home page redirects properly from non-www to www, then it refuses to load. The Add a Website function calls for inputting the link to the website as accessed online, which is on the machine's hard drive - but as I said, I can't find that under Networks anymore.
