Hi, I did asearch and found no discussion on"Forum Software." I have an existing web account with Discountasp.net and I was thinking of adding a Forum subweb. I would prefer to use an ASP.NET 3.5 architecture, but no bulky CMS stuff. Unfortunately, there is not a lot of good software to choose from: forum.yetanotherforum.netis not bad, but do I need a SQL backend or is Access adequate (for speed)? www.dotnetbb.com is the current forums software, but is it the best choice for today? AspNetForum software looks good, but is it too petite? webwizguide.com is not bad for ASP, but I think itis too old now. forum.itcn.com looks "old-ish", has anyone worked with it before? What do you andDiscountasp.netrecommend? Is there another Forum software company that I should be considering? (Pre-compiled code is fine,I'm flexible on that.) Thanks Ps I'm notsure if I am posting this questionin the correct forum.
Hi, I've run large communities here with both Snitz and Webwiz. I have a lifetime license with Webwiz and did like the features but overall Snitz is easier to work with. http://forum.snitz.com/ Snitz is free andeasy to modify the code for. The team addresses any security concerns all the time and they are working on an ASP.NET version. The ASP.NET version can be found in their forums, it's still beta. If I were in need of a quick forum package right now I'd go with Snitz once more. It will work best with SQL Server but it also works well with an Access DB, very easy to setup.
