Cant connect to mysql db

Im having problems with part of my site and a php script keeps causing server 500 errors.

But now realise it could be because its not connecting to the db

I have added database manager in iss 7 with the right credentials - error 40 not found or accessible

how can i repair or reinstate the current db - take in to consideration I cannot connect

is there anything \i can do within the dasp control panel?

no db backup was made as it was testing phase and only test data
