  1. Hi Sherman,

Thanks for replying. I'm running IIS version 7.0. What does that imply? I'm also trying to access the webroot using the main user.

You said that the anonymous user isn't listed because they are enabled by default? Is that right? I compared my account to another discountasp.net account. I saw in the other account's Permission Manager that it has 'anonymous' included in the list of permitted users that can access the root directory. However, my account has no 'anonymous', that is why i wanted to include 'anonymous' in my list of users but I just can't seem to add any users.

  2. Since you're running IIS 7, rcp's post above should solve your problem.

The Anonymous ASPNet USER is the anonymous user in question. On IIS 7, there isn't another generic anonymous user included. That was one of the changes made from IIS 6 to IIS 7.

Was the other account you saw running IIS 6 perhaps?

  3. Hi Sherman and RCP,

Thanks a lot! You guys answered my question. I checked on the other account, it was still running IIS 6. And i didn't take notice of the FTP username in my account. I thought the pipeline signifies an 'or'. I can use either the customer id or the account name. Thanks for all the help! /emoticons/tongue.gif

  4. I tried connecting to the server using Filezilla but it gives me an error. It says that the home directory is inaccessible. I tried to check the settings of discountasp.net and noticed that there are no permitted users to access the home directory.

The instructions in permission manager said that The "anonymous" user will always be listed. But how come i don't see any dropdown where an "anonymous" user is listed? I already clicked on a directory but still no dropdown appears.

I checked the User/Quota Manager, and i see 2 users.First is the user of the account registered in discountasp and the second one is an Anonymous ASPNet User.

I must have missed a step. Can anyone please help me?

  5. What version of IIS are you running?

Are you trying to access FTP with an 'additional user' or the main user? Try setting the directory directly with the FTP request (i.e. ftp.mydomain.com/accountname). IIS FTP server does not have the ability to map additional users to your webroot. This could be why you're getting that error.

The anonymous user isn't listed, along with the other users, because they are enabled by default. Since you can't change them, you don't see them. It will show you only the ones you've specifically added.

  6. Make sure that you are typing in the correct login. For IIS 7 the login is different then IIS 6. The naming convention is [customer id]|[discountasp account name]. Make sure that you use the pipe in the middle. If you are still not sure of your FTP login, log into your hosting control panel and under Account Info/Edit you can see your complete FTP login.
