Connecting to my web hosting DB from another server

    Hi all,

    I would like to connect to my discountASP.net SQL 2000 server from another server because I would like to run another site that uses this DB as well. Is there anyway that it can be faster and more secure than just pointing to 'mssql04.discountasp.net' directly?

    1) Faster? - there's nothing much you or us can do here. Speed depends on the distance between the web server and the sql server as well as the internet performance during the time of query. In general, you do not expect to get good performance with this setup

    2) Secure? - the communication is insecure. We can't do much about this currently.
