I am still using SQL 2005 and I'm wondering if Discount ASP have plans to end support for 2005 and will ask us to migrate to 2008 ?

  2. So far there has been no word on not supporting SQL 2005 in the near future, however we do always recommend migrating to a newer SQL 2008 server.

We still support tens of thousands of SQL2000 and SQL2005 database users, and we do not intend to force database migration for anyone at this time. SQL2000 is still under "extended support" from Microsoft for two more years (the end of extended support for SQL2005 is five years away).

You'll probably stop using SQL2005 before we stop supporting it. ;)

With that said, i still think you should consider migrating to SQL 2008 R2 as soon as possible. SQL 2008 offers better performance that 2005. The migration is also rather simple.

  5. Absolutely agree with Bruce, you also get more storage space. ;-)
