  1. I am aware that we are capable of creating a Sender Policy Framework record through the DNS manager on the site.

The thing is, I am not sure how to create the SPF records themselves.

I have seen a number of wizards which help with the creation of them, but not being a network admin, I can't say to have complete knowledge of what I should be enabling (or disabling) for that matter.

Has anyone else had success in setting up one of these records for their site? My setup here is a single domain name on what I am sure is a shared instance of IIS.

My MX records for my domain point to:

    mx1.internetmailserver.net
    mx2.internetmailserver.net

And all of my A records are set up as well (for pop3, smtp, and imap access).

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Yes, you are right, I can lock it down as tight as I want, but in order to do that, I need to know from DiscountASP.NET just which machines are going to be sending legitimate email (in the form of email messages from people using my domain with proper authentication and authorization, as well as NDR replies) on my domain's behalf.

For example, for my domain, in my DNS setup, it shows the following for my MX records:

    mx1.internetmailserver.net
    mx2.internetmailserver.net

There is also the A entries for:

    pop3.mydomain.com
    smtp.mydomain.com

Are those going to be sending email on my behalf as well?

    My site is hosted on:

    web137.discountasp.net

Does that machine host mail services as well?

Or does all email (inbound, outbound, and NDRs) get routed JUST through the machines behind the MX entries?

    Thanks in advance.

    CasperOne,

Besides mx1 and mx2.internetmailserver.net you should probably include the following:

    outbound-smtp.internetmailserver.net
    mail01.internetmailserver.net (webmail)

Also, web137.discountasp.net does have its own localhost MTA, so if you plan on sending mail out through some script on your site, you should add that as well.
    Thanks
