  1. Hi, I'm a newbie and just got my account set up and I'm just starting to deploy my website.

I've been developing on my local machine using the MS Web Developer 2008 express edition. I created a database in this environment for use with my web pages.

I have MS SQL Server 2005 and 2008 on my machine. I believe 2005 was a result of my Visual Studio 2005 installation.

I want to add MS SQL Server to my services, which allows for either 2005 or 2008. Can you tell me how to determine which MS SQL Server I should use? I've checked the database properties and it doesn't give me a hint other then the database is in the Visual Studio 2008 folder.

    Thanks!

  2. I did find this using information from another thread:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (RTM) - 10.0.1600.22 (Intel X86)
    Jul 9 2008 14:43:34
    Copyright (c) 1988-2008 Microsoft Corporation
Express Edition on Windows NT 5.1 <X86> (Build 2600: Service Pack 3)

So, it looks like I should go with SQL Server 2008?

  3. Hi,
Yes, definitely go with SQL Server 2008, it is much better and you get more storage here than with the previous versions, sweet.
    Salute,
    Mark
