DNN 4.3.4 setup and DNS questions

I have read everything I could dig up here and in the KB, but I would appreciate it someone can confirm that this will work for me before I pop for SQL Server 2005...

I have one domain hosted here now. I have others hosted elsewhere and would like to migrate them here. The DNS for the others is prepaid in advance for several years at Network Solutions. Can I just change the DNS A records to point to a DASP IP address, then pay for 'Domain Pointers' and setup additional portals for each of the domains in DNN? (the question is not about setting up DNN, it is whether or not the domain pointers work with DDN's host/URL portal mapping mechanism. If it will work are there any downsides to doing it this way?
